Oakes: We hope to sing our victory song at London

Dewsbury Rams player Will Oakes is feeling confident going in to today’s game against the London Broncos.

The Rams head to the capital on the back of a good victory over the Swinton Lions last time out.

On the trip to London Oakes said: “We all know that London are a good side but we are going to try not to focus on them too much.

“We just need to make sure we perform to our best and put our all into the game.”

Looking back on the victory over Swinton Oakes added: “We learnt a lot from those defeats we suffered. There were a lot of things that needed fixing but there were a lot of positives too which is something we can build on.

“I thought for the majority of the Swinton game we played well and were dominant. The problem was we slipped off towards the end leaving a nervous finish to the game.

“However it was a good effort from the lads because we had a lot of injuries during the game, so a lot of players played a lot of minutes.

“It’s great to get back to winning ways and sing our song after the game let’s hope we can do it again this week.”

Due to the fact we moved our game vs Batley to later in the season. It meant the players had a free weekend to fully recover from the Swinton match. Oakes believes that rest and recovery period is vital for the lads.

“It’s been good, it’s important to have a break every now and again. However we put a few sessions in still to help build up to this game. We are looking to improve and get stronger as the sessions go by.”

Finally Oakes was really pleased to see the Dewsbury faithful back in stadiums and attending the Swinton match.

He said: “They are a massive help, it’s great to have the fans back. They helped especially towards the end of the Swinton game, they just give us that little something extra to see the game out.”
