Dewsbury Rams can confirm that player Joe Wardill has again been forced to retire from the game of rugby League.

Head coach Lee Greenwood explains: “It’s a real shame for Joe and us. He came into pre-season pain free and was looking good in training but over the last couple months his hip problems have resurfaced.

“I’m sure we could have managed him in order to play the odd game but we need to think about his health and wellbeing going forward. As sad as it is for him, he has made the right decision and this will allow him to concentrate on his study and work without the worry of not being able to walk properly or get out of bed.

“On behalf of the club I wish him all the very best in the future.”
