Clavering- I’ve kept a close eye on Dewsbury ever since speaking to Lee

The club recently announced the signing of 22 Brad Clavering.

The big prop is looking forward to playing for the Rams and under head coach Lee Greenwood.

Clavering spoke exclusively to the Rams website about his move to the club.

He said: “I’ve spoken to Lee (Greenwood) over the last two seasons and really like the way he coaches and the style he wants me to play.

“I’ve kept a close eye on Dewsbury ever since speaking to Lee and also have a few mates play down here.”

Having risen through the Hull KR ranks, Clavering has had a good learning experience at a Betfred Super League club.

“It was a massive learning curve been in a good system and learning good habits. It was also good training with senior players from a young age.”

Clavering described where and what he likes to do on the pitch whilst in a game.

He said: “I play back row and prop. I’m 6,3 and 106kg. I’ve been very lucky to have played with some great players in the England academy set up.

“I also had a great experience out in Australia in 2019, before this I have been at Hull KR and then hull fc academy. My amateur club was Skirlaugh Bulls.

“I’ve played abit all over from a young age I’ve played stand off, centre, prop, second row and loose forward. My main position is backrow, prop/loose forward.

“I do really like attacking as I like to ball play and have ball in hand. However I also like being in a tough game that is a dog fight.”

Looking ahead Clavering wants to force his way into a regular starting spot.

“My ambitions for 2021 is to have a really good pre-season and get in that 1-17 for that first game. I know there is a lot of competition at this club and that excites me knowing we all have to perform or we won’t be keeping our spot.

“It’s always good to have that. It will bring the best out of our team.”

Finally the young prop says he’s excited to play his first game in the Championship for the Rams. He’s also excited to have his debut at the Tetley’s Stadium.

“I can’t wait to have our first home game, I can remember when I was at Hull KR i was 18th man and the fans are great at Dewsbury. Hopefully at our first home game our fans will be there with us.

“I’m really looking forward to testing myself against some good seasoned professional and prove myself at this level.”
