Day continues his Rams journey

Dewsbury Rams are pleased to confirm they have exercised the 2nd year contract option for Sam Day.

Day has now been at the Tetley’s Stadium for four years. Having first joined on loan in 2017. He then signed permanent in 2018.

He has since become a vital part of the team and has a strong bond with the Rams faithful living locally.

Although Day is small in stature he has the heart of a lion. Crashing into tackles and making his presence felt on the field of play. He also had a very impressive 2019 scoring some fantastic tries none less so than the one at Blackpool against Batley in the Summer Bash in what was an unbelievable solo effort.

Day plays in the hooker position and is the most recent player to play there for the club. He follows in a long line of club legends, such as Mick Stephenson. Read more about the players who have played as hooker for the club here in David Hymoes’s article.

On being able to retain Day, head coach Lee Greenwood said: “Sam is really enjoying being at the club. He has blossomed from playing regularly and takes pride in his physical fitness.

“I feel the new rules to speed up play are going to suit him.
He lives and works locally and it means a lot to him when he puts the shirt on every week. The best thing about Sam is that he has a lot of potential to improve too.”

An interview will be on the website with Sam tomorrow.
