Local lad Thornton stays at hometown club

When local Dewsbury lad James Thornton signed for his hometown club at the start of the 2020 season he called it an honour to wear the shirt.

Well Thornton will be just as excited for the 2021 campaign as he’s staying at the club for another season.

Having given some impressive displays in a Rams shirt and on dual-reg for Hull KR’s reserve side. The prop has earned himself a new deal.

As with the two previous announcements you can take a look at David Hymoes view on the number 8 shirt here. Which gives you an indication of how many good props we have had at the club.

On being able to keep Thornton, Rams head coach Lee Greenwood said: “James had started to nudge himself up the pecking order with his performances before lockdown.

“He had played well for Coventry then showed glimpses in the Challenge Cup games for us. He is a local lad and wants to succeed here.

*With his work rate and attitude, he has every chance of forcing himself in to the 17 on a more regular basis.”

An interview with James will be on the site tomorrow.
