Rams enter Autumn Cup

Dewsbury Rams can today confirm that the club has decided to submit an entry for the RFL’s Autumn invitational cup.

The decision was made following the Rams being able to secure testing for relevant staff and players.

The Rams are in the process of agreeing a relevant capacity under the current circumstances. There would need to be an inspection by Kirklees of whatever arrangements are put in place regarding social distancing, entrances and exits to the stadium, bars, toilet etc and there would need to be a “Covid 19 Plan” in place.

The final capacity would not be agreed until the relevant inspection had taken place and our entry is conditional on a positive inspection and sufficient numbers being allowed in the stadium as well as of course the appropriate national guidelines and agreements being in place.

We would also like to thank the local authority for their assistance in securing a testing package for Covid 19 for not only this year but for the whole of 2021.

We now await further news from the RFL regarding the tournament and these will be communicated via the usual channels in due course.

Head coach Lee Greenwood commented on the Rams entering the tournament by saying: “I’m delighted we have entered the Autumn tournament. I really hope there are deemed to be enough clubs that have entered to have a meaningful competition.

“I have heard it said by a few people and I agree – we are a Rugby League club and we are here to play Rugby League. This has been the longest all of us have been away from the game since we started as children and we are desperate to get back training and playing.”
