Greenwood reviews Leigh defeat

Dewsbury Rams head coach Lee Greenwood insists that the scoreline shown on Friday night didn’t mirror the actual game and effort his team put in.

The Rams were defeated by the Leigh Centurions 36-10 on Friday night, the Rams put in a fantastic effort against a side that is hot favourites for promotion.

On the game he said: “I was disappointed with the scoreline, I thought it was a closer game than what the 10-36 score showed. I thought we were very competitive for the majority of the game.

“I think many people expected that scoreline or more and it was our job to make the score more respectable and I think we did that. That is one team that has spent a lot of money to try and get promotion, the effort from the lads for an hour is tremendous.

“After that they then managed to get the upper hand and their last two tries are disappointing. The one just after half time is an outstanding pass and nothing we can do about it, you can see that type of try in the Super League.

“We have spoke about attitude and effort a lot but you can’t just win a game on that alone and that’s what they have that bit of quality. you could put a team together of lads they haven’t used and they’d have a good go at staying in the Super League.

“Results against Leigh aren’t where our season will be shaped but lets look at the positives and hopefully next time we play Leigh we’ll play even better.”
