MATCH REPORT- Dewsbury Rams 25-12 Bradford Bulls

Dewsbury Rams were victorious in their final pre-season friendly as they beat the Bradford Bulls 25-12 in a confident performance.

The game started in a scrappy manner and neither side could get on top, Dewsbury tried to make some attacking displays down the left hand side, however Bradford managed to repel any attacks.

The Bulls also came close on a couple of occasions to scoring the first try, however Dewsbury defended their line well.

Dewsbury managed to get the first try of the afternoon as Frazer Morris blasted through the Bulls defence to score a fantastic try, five minutes before half time. Will Oakes was the one on kicking duty for the Rams on the day and he duly put the first kick through the posts. That made the score Dewsbury Rams 6-0 Bradford Bulls.

Just four minutes later former Bradford player Jon Magrin scored his first try of the afternoon with a lovely little spin to plant the ball over the whitewash. Again Oakes took the kick and again he scored the conversion putting the Rams 12-0 ahead.

Bradford came out like lightening in the second half and were doing all they could to score their first try of the day. However it was the Rams who would land the next blow as Jon Magrin once again scored to make that two tries on the day for him. Oakes took the kick and converted it to make it three kicks from three and that put the score at Rams 18-0 Bulls.

The Rams were really rocking and rolling by this point and putting the Bulls under pressure, and it didn’t take long for the next try to be scored when Joe Martin went over the whitewash after collecting a great pass from Liam Johnson. Oakes again didn’t miss his kick putting he Rams in a healthy 24-0 lead.

The Bulls then stared to slowly get back into the fixture and scored just three minutes after Martin’s try on the 53rd minute. Liam Kirk planted the ball down to give Bradford some hope in getting back into the game. Rowan Miles was converting the extra two points for the Bulls on the day, and put his first kick through the posts to make the score Dewsbury 24-6 Bradford.

Whilst the Bulls were having a dominant spell they didn’t score again until the 67th minute when Adam Rooks crossed the line, again Miles added the exttras making the score 24-12 to the Rams.

The Rams finished off the win in style as Morgan Punchard cleverly put a drop goal through the posts to seal a good pre-season win. The final scored being 25-12 to the Rams.
