CORAL CHALLENGE CUP FIRST ROUND

The road to Wembley starts for two Dewsbury based clubs this coming Saturday 11th January.
Thornhill Trojans & Dewsbury Moor Maroons face intriguing ties.

An absolute epic awaits in Overthorpe Park as the Trojans take on Thatto Heath Crusaders. This will immediately evoke memories of last season’s competition for Rams fans. Thatto emerged as last year’s Cup giant killers as they embarked on a run that included victory over Betfred League One club North Wales Crusaders before the Rams put an end to their frolics with a 36 – 10 victory in Round 5.

This will be the first game in charge of Thornhill for former Rams player Danny Ratcliffe. Emerging youngsters to look out for in the Trojans team are Rye Ward , Josh Riley & Zak Harrod.

Meanwhile Dewsbury Moor will Cross the pennines to take on the iconic Wigan St Patricks club. Both the Moor & St Pats have produced many players for the professional game. A 2:30pm kick off at Clarrington Park for this tie.

BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final

Two clubs with strong connections to Dewsbury Rams produced a titanic BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final at Featherstone.

The showpiece final saw favourites Mirfield lift the cup but only after overcoming a fierce challenge from a Drighlington team coached by Rams very own Martin Reilly.

Both clubs took plenty of supporters to the LD Nutrition Stadium & whilst Featherstone is the long established home of the White Rose final it would have been great to have staged this particular final at the Tetleys Stadium!
