Match Report- Dewsbury Rams 14-14 Batley Bulldogs

Dewsbury Rams drew 14-14 on Boxing Day to the Batley Bulldogs.

It was the first piece of action for both sides heading into a busy 2020.

The Rams started the first ten minutes off well. However it was the Bulldogs who managed to get on the front foot.

It was the visitors who took the lead as Alistair Leak put the ball down over the line. Former Rams player Dale Morton who was on kicking duty for Batley converted the first kick to make it 6-0.

The Bulldogs extended their lead just ten minutes later. Michael Ward finding a gap to score. Morton again converted the kick to add the two points to make it 12-0 to Batley.

Dewsbury scored their first try of the match two minutes before the break. A nice move down the right put Andy Gabriel through who scored. Paul Sykes was taking the conversions for the Rams who scored. The score was now 12-6 to Batley.

Dewsbury scored quickly after half time with on loan player Will Oakes going across the whitewash. Sykes unfortunately missed the conversion this time around, meaning the score became 10-12 to Batley.

Now on a roll the Rams once again crossed the line with Adam Ryder scoring the try. Sykes again missed the conversion putting the score at 14-12 to the Rams.

Both sides tried to get a hold of the game but neither could.

The final three minutes were hectic though. Morton converted a penalty drawing the scores level.

Then the Rams went for a drop goal, however Michael Knowles attempt was blocked.

The score ended 14-14, and so the Rams now move on to an away game at Keighley Cougars.
