Brierley joins hometown team

Dewsbury Rams are delighted to announce that 23 year old utility back Tommy Brierley has signed for the club on a one year deal.

Brierley can play in any of the back positions and insists he is comfortable playing in any position, he’s just pleased to be able to sign for his hometown team.

Brierley has had a fair amount of experience despite his young age, he signed for Leeds Rhinos at the age of 15 and was with them until the age of 19.

He then signed for York but then left the club due to injury, after recovering, he is now ready to get back into Championship rugby league with the Rams.

On signing for the club, head coach Lee Greenwood said: “Tommy is another player who has shown potential for a few years now. He can play in all the outside back positions and with a strong pre-season can really make an impression next year.

“He is another younger lad that will benefit from our partnerships with Hull KR and Coventry.

‘This will allow him to play weekly at a good standard, while his primary goal is to cement a spot in our team. People that I respect have spoken well of his ability and attitude which makes him a welcome addition. He is a local boy too and he comes here wanting to be a success.”
