Scott ready for Rams challenge

Dewsbury Rams new prop forward Connor Scott is raring to go at his new club, and believes the Rams can have a really good 2020 campaign.

On signing for the club Connor said: “It’s brilliant and it has been something that I have wanted to do for a while now, play in the Championship and at a good club like Dewsbury.”

The 26 year old has played just short of 90 games for the Dons in League 1 and so he is used to playing in a tough division. However he now believes that he can make the step back up to the Championship.

He said: “When I was younger I started off coming through the scholarship at the Sheffield Eagles, I played a few first team games there before moving to Doncaster. I have been at Doncaster since 2015 and so played for them for the last four years.

“Everyone knows League one is a tough division and there are some not very nice places to go. It has been good for me getting a lot of game time, I have played just short of 90 games for Doncaster so game time was good, but I am glad now I can move up to the Championship.

“I am 26 now, I feel like I am at the age and stage of my career where i can say I have matured into a decent prop. I am ready to learn a lot more at Dewsbury and again at this level.”

For those supporters who haven’t seen Scott in action, he insists that he likes to carry the ball in and make good ground for the team helping them to get up the field towards the try line.

He commented: “I like to take a good carry in, be on the front foot, but also I think I have a good defence game too. I like those background carries off of kick offs, I don’t mind getting over the try line either.”

Although Scott hasn’t played against the Rams very often, he does know a bit about the club, and says he has always looked out for the club scorelines.

Scott continued: “Dewsbury are a great club and have always been a good one, I used to look out for their scores too. I know Jack Howieson from my days at Sheffield Eagles, he was my captain at the club when I was there. As soon as I spoke to Lee about the club he sold it to me to be honest, everything is here that we need which is great.

“Not many club’s own their own ground and facilities and so to have everything we need on site is brilliant.

My main aims are to enjoy it and step up to the challenge and to get as many games as I can.”
