Dewsbury Rams made it back to back victories this weekend by beating the Rochdale Hornets on Sunday afternoon, winning by 66-10.

In what was a huge game for both sides it was the Rams who came out on top, scoring 11 tries in the process and kicking 11 conversions.

The game started badly for the home side when Brandon Wood found a gap in the Rams defence to score a simple try, Daniel Abram was doing the kicking for the Hornets, however he missed his conversion attempt.

On the 9th minute the Rams took the lead as Kyle Trout powered his way over the line for what was a great finish. Liam Finn converted the extra’s for the Rams to put the score at 6-4 to Dewsbury.

It wasn’t until the 27th minute that Dewsbury extended their lead, Dale Morton this time going over the whitewash to score, Finn again kicked the two points. Two more tries quickly followed, firstly Lucas Walshaw in the 32nd minute and Sam Day in the 37th minute, Finn once again made sure the ball sailed through the posts on both occasions.

That placed the score at half time Dewsbury Rams 24-4 Rochdale in what was a dominant display so far by the Rams.

As like the first half, the second started badly for the home side, Rochdale managed to plant the ball over the try line Scott Moore this time doing the damage. Abram this time didn’t miss his kick and so grabbed the two extra points. That is as far as it got for Rochdale scoring wise on the afternoon.

The Rams from here on in took full control, Frazer Morris grabbed his first two tries in a Rams shirt on the 46th minute and then two minutes later on the 48th, Finn again kicked the conversions.

The Rams came up with two more tries just a few moments later, Joe Martin got his first try in a Rams shirt on the 52nd minute, and then Tom Garratt powered over the line in the 55th minute to score. Finn again kicked the conversion to add the extra’s both times to make the score 48-10 to Dewsbury.

Sam Day grabbed his second try of the day on the 64th minute, and Joe Martin got his second just ten minutes later. Once again Finn kept up is 100% kicking ratio through the game and kicked both conversions to now put the score at 60-10 to the home side.

The last try of the match came in 78th minute as Chris Annakin dived over the line to score a great try to finish off what was a comfortable afternoon for the Rams. Finn kicked the conversion to end the scoring at 66-10.

Next week the Rams take on Canadian side Toronto Wolfpack in Canada.
