Rams sign two new players

Dewsbury Rams can announce that we have signed two new players, and they made their debut on Sunday in the win over Swinton Lions in the 1895 cup.

The Rams have signed former Halifax prop Frazer Morris for the rest of the season, the 22 year old prop has fallen down the pecking order at the Shay, and head coach Lee Greenwood sees the potential in Morris and so has brought him in.

The other player to arrive is 24 year old Joe Martin who has been in Australia for the last few months. Before that he had played for Halifax, Oldham and Siddal, his main position is at fullback.

On the two new signings head coach Lee Greenwood said: “I thought they both played well, they have only had one week of training and then both been chucked in and given a chance and I thought they both took it with both hands.

“Joe did 65 minutes at full back, came off with a head test and then went back on, he had some good touches and I’ve known Joe for a while and I know what he can bring. He is an agile sort of player who brings a bit of a voice as well, which is something we have probably being missing from the back. It was good to see him come in and I thought he had an impressive debut for us.

“We have brought Frazer in from Halifax who was down the pecking order, and below his brother in fact. I did ask Frazer who was best and he did give me a funny luck, so he is out there to prove his worth and prove it as a Championship player. He is a young front rower and I thought he did well, he looked solid which is what you want from your front row, so he’s made a good start.”
