Dewsbury Rams mascot Roger the Ram visited Bywell primary school where he opened their annual spring fair and had plenty of selfie’s taken with the children.
The event was a huge success according to the school and they were delighted at the fact that Roger could attend.
Elizabeth Turver who organised the event said of Roger’s attendance and how much the event raised: “Bywell Would like to thank Roger Ram for opening and being a part of our Spring Fair, we try and make our fairs as community based as possible.
“We had other local clubs join us on the night, every child, parent, grandparent, carer and visitor that came were overwhelmed at the feeling they got when they came.
“It was an amazing success and we raised £2000. Roger Ram is such a well known character in Dewsbury and was treated like the fantastic local celebrity that he is.”
Steven Downes Dewsbury Rams media manager said of Roger attending the event: “It is great that Roger was able to visit the school and open the event. It is another example of the club working closely with its community and trying to get younger people interested in not just Dewsbury Rams but rugby league as a whole.”
