Greenwood responds to Challenge Cup draw

Dewsbury Rams head coach Lee Greenwood is excited about the forthcoming fifth round Challenge Cup tie against Thatto Heath. However he knows that will be a big challenge to overcome if the Rams are to progress further in the competition.

He said about the draw: “If you are going from the prospective, let’s go as far as we can in the competition then they were the only remaining amateur team in there then it’s a good draw. If you are being picky then you would have liked it at home, but we have been drawn against the lowest ranked side and we will be expected to win.

“It is a draw now that we are looking to win, we’ll have to prepare properly to get through, there were draws in there that didn’t look that great as in playing teams in our division that we already play in the league. There were some Super League ties where we could have gotten which would have possibly put some money into the club, however due to how it went we have got Thatto Heath away.

“We will be expected to win but I know that will be very tough, so we’ll need to be at our best to win no doubt about it.

“They are in the same division as West Hull, and like them Thatto Heath have been near the top of the league for a few years now. That win over North Wales will give them great confidence and they’ll be fancying their chances against us.

“It gives us a game to look at now too, what they might threaten us with and how we can hurt them. They are a well organised team, they aren’t an old school style team that might play dirty tactics, they are well coached and play some good stuff. We’ll have to respect them but go out and play our game and if we do that we should win. However if we don’t prepare properly and don’t turn up right then you could be turned over like we have seen.”
