Greenwood previews Halifax fixture

Dewsbury Rams this weekend take on Halifax RLFC in the Betfred Championship and head coach Lee Greenwood knows it will be a tough fixture.

He said: “First of all at this moment it tells you where people inside and outside the club see Halifax and Dewsbury. At the minute some Halifax people aren’t pleased with how they are playing, and yet they are higher than us in the table and they won at the weekend. Where we lost at the weekend and have come out probably more positive.

“We seem to have a bit more positivity behind us. That is something I want to change I want us to win more games and it be more of a surprise if we do lose. I want to see us competing in every game.

“Halifax are a club that at least on the field we can aspire to getting to. Richard has got a pretty settled squad where he has brought in two or three each season. The squad is experienced with most of their players in their late 20’s early 30’s and so every season he has just added one or two quality names. They are a lot further down the track than we are.

“For the last few years they have been in that top four and I think eventually we can aspire to do what Halifax have done on the field. Them and Featherstone have been the best part time teams for a few years and that is what we want to target.

“I would expect an arm wrestle type game, they are strong in defence and don’t give too much away. We can’t just turn up thinking it will be easy because that’s when Halifax can rack up a big score. I dare say if we turn up like we did against Barrow then you can expect a big score in Halifax’s favour. I think they’ll explode into life at some stage but I don’t want it to be this weekend.”
