Ward on the Wolfpack

Dewsbury Rams Robbie Ward is pleased to be getting back into the swing of things by playing again.

Ward missed the start of the season due to a suspension but says he is now getting back into the groove of things.

He said: “It was disappointing picking up a ban but now a couple games in for me and I am starting to get back into the stride of things and getting used to playing with a lot of the new boys.”

Ward and the other Rams players will this weekend be taking on Canadian side Toronto Wolfpack. Ward insists that it will be a huge test for Dewsbury.

On Sunday’s game he commented: “They’re arguably the best side in the league and it would be great to be the first side to beat them this year. We think (especially at home) we can give it a real go.

“It will be a real tough physical battle, it’s full time vs part time and they’re a great side so it’s going to be tough for us but if we show up with the right attitude we could turn any team over this year.”

Since arriving at the club a lot of things have changed including a purpose built gym and wrestle room.

On those changes he said: “They’re fantastic, it’s changed massively from when I first came to the club. It just shows the hard work that goes in from volunteers around the club.”

Finally the hooker reflected on Dewsbury’s season so far, believing the team should be on more points than it is.

He said: “I think we have started a lot better than people would have thought, picking up only 1 win & a draw in the first 3 games is disappointing for us as we feel we should be sitting with 6 points on the table now but the only thing we can do it look forward now and take it week by week and start picking up them points.
