Ryder Reacts to new contract

Dewsbury Rams centre Adam Ryder has decided to put pen to paper on a new two year contract, the 29 year old has become a real fans favourite at the club with his pacey and powerful runs forward.

The dynamic former Keighley man insists this is the right place for him to be and so has signed a new deal until the year 2021.

On his new deal he said: “It was an easy choice really, I enjoyed my time here last year, I got to know the fans and staff. Lee has come in, he is a good coach, and we are moving in the right direction. We have got lads coming through so hopefully we can build a side for the next few years, and build a strong squad.

“I have got this year and another two after that, so I am here until 2021, that will give me time to cement myself here and enjoy myself.”

Ryder has certainly cemented his place in becoming a fans favourite, it was the supporter group All Together who originally helped to sign him from the Cougars a year ago. Ryder came to the Rams with the help of the All Together Fundraising which involved the clubs fans plus fans groups Amber Ribbon & the Dewsbury Faithful. The All Together Fund contributed to Ryder signing for the 2019 season. That backing by the All Together and other fans groups meant Ryder signed an initial two year deal running until the end of 2019. However Ryder has now extended that deal at the club until 2021.

On the fans backing he said: “That was a big part of it too, the support we get here, all the fans are nice when you speak to them. Hopefully we can build on last year into this year and the years to follow.”

Since he arrived in Dewsbury, Ryder believes he has improved his game, he said: “I’d like to think so, I set myself a big goal to play at this level, in the Championship. I have found a club I want to do that at so I want to be here as long as the club will have me.”

Make sure you have bought your 2019 season ticket and watch Adam in action for the Rams on Sunday.
