Dewsbury Rams can announce that it has come up with a brand new initiative where the club is looking to invite local rugby league junior teams to take part in a free training session. These will be run by two Dewsbury Rams first team players, Martyn Reilly and Kyle Trout.

The junior sides will be shown around the club and be able to use the new club wrestle room and gym, this is a fantastic opportunity for amateur junior clubs to see what a professional rugby league club looks like behind the scenes.

We invited local side Siddal under 14’s to be the first to be involved in the new imitative, and we can report that the event went exceptionally well, with players and parents both surprised at the fantastic facilities that Dewsbury Rams has on it’s door step.

Once the training session concluded, the players were given one free ticket each including one free parent ticket into the Rams first home game of the season vs York City Knights.

Rams media manager Steven Downes commented on the initiative: “The club is always looking to engage with younger fans and especially with so many amateur clubs on our doorstep, we are looking to boost our younger fan base at matches, but also give the community game a platform to go on and be successful.

“Both Kyle and Martyn have been heavily involved in the process and did a brilliant job in running the session with the Siddal team. Hopefully this is the start of a fantastic closer relationship with the local rugby league community.”

If you are a junior side at a local rugby league club, such as Dewsbury Moor, Dewsbury Celtic, Thornhill Trojans and Shaw Cross Sharks, don’t hesitate to get in contact with the club.
