King ready for tough season ahead

Dewsbury Rams second-rower Danny King is in a positive frame of mind going into the new Betfred Championship campaign. However he knows that it will be the toughest season in the Championship for a long time.

He said: “I am looking forward to playing all the big teams really, I am looking forward to playing Toronto that will be a real challenge to go over there. Then you have teams like Toulouse and Widnes. Also with me playing for Bradford previously I will be looking forward to playing against them this season.”

On the kind of player he is, the 21 year old explained: “I am a big tall second-rower who can run a good line, I enjoy my defensive duties and I enjoy playing an offload. I like to play off the cuff and so I very much play the game how I see it.

“I do like both sides of the game, I like to work hard in defence and then obviously help out in those attacking moments that we’ll have.”

Finally King spoke about his aims for the upcoming campaign and again mentioned why he joined the Rams in the first place.

He said: “We are a young hungry side where everyone wants to progress further, and to go as far as they can, that did attract me to the club. The facilities that the club has are great, and it helps with everything being in one place.

“I would just like to be playing first team rugby really, I want to see where I go from there really, I do want to challenge myself with every session and every game and I just want to improve myself as a player.”
