Grassroots- The Weekend’s Matches Preview

It is once again that time of the week where we preview our grassroots sides fixtures.

Kingstone Press national conference league Division 1

Thornhill Trojans have gone top of Division 1 with a comfortable win over Milford Marlins last time out, winning 28-2 on the day. The Trojans have played 18 games this season winning 15 of them, losing 2 and drawing 1.

This week Thornhill take on Leigh Miners Rangers who sit in second spot in the league, making this weekend’s game between the two sides a top of the table clash.

Leigh have won 13 games out of their 18 matches, winning only two less than Thornhill, they have also lost five fixtures, and drawn none.

Meanwhile Shaw Cross Sharks are still at the wrong end of the table, and last weekend’s defeat to Pilkington Recs hasn’t helped matters, the game finished 24-16 to Pilkington.

Having slipped to second bottom in the league standings this weekends fixture against Lock Lane will be no walk in the park. Lane are currently sat third in the league table. However if Shaw Cross won this coming weekend it would put them a step closer to getting out of the bottom three.

Dewsbury Moor ended up drawing last weekend against Hull Dockers 20-20, that result left Moor in second position in the league and still looking to claim top spot.

This weekend the club are hosting East Leeds who sit fifth in the league and were defeated heavily in their last game, losing 44-12 to Wigan St Judes.

Dewsbury Celtic are still ticking along nicely in mid-table, sitting in seventh position in the league standings. They are this weekend taking on the team just above them, Eastmoor Dragons.

The Dragons are only two points ahead of Celtic and so a win for Dewsbury could mean they would swap places with Eastmoor in the league.
