Kelly Delighted With Summer Bash Victory

Dewsbury Rams head coach Neil Kelly was delighted with the win over local rivals Batley Bulldogs at the Summer Bash in Blackpool.

He now wants his side to take the positives from the win into the Rams next game which is at home to Featherstone Rovers on the 10th June.

He said on the victory over Batley: “I’ll take any win after the run without a win we have had, we realise it wasn’t a champagne performance. However that seems to be the nature of this team, they making winning hard.

“The sooner it wakes up and realises that when it does things right, it’s easier to win games, the sooner it does that the better.

“Paul Sykes’s kick was really crucial, he’s kicking the goals and getting us the points, but I have to give special mentions to our back three and the two fullbacks I thought they dug us out of a hole and won us the game in the end.

“It is really important to keep those teams below us, Swinton play Rochdale again next weekend and one of those teams will be getting another two points I presume, so then they’ll be right behind us.

“It’s important that we got this win, and we celebrate this win and then quickly take things out of this game that we want to work on and learn from and take those good things into our next fixture.”
