Guzdek confident form can be turned around

Dewsbury Rams fullback Josh Guzdek is confident that the team can turn its form around, following a difficult recent spell.

The Rams have lost the last ten fixtures in a row including league and cup games. However the 23 year old Guzdek insists that Dewsbury can get back to winning ways.

“We’ve had a really good weeks training following the loss to Barrow on Sunday,” said Guzdek.

“We sat down as a team on Monday to talk about honesty and commitment and the boys have responded really well this week.

“Hard work and a change of attitude during training and in matches is what is going to get ourselves out of this hole we’ve got ourselves into.

“We’ve got to take it into this weekends game at Halifax and hopefully repay the fans that travelled to barrow last weekend.”

He continued: “We are giving the ball away too much in attack through poor skill levels. This leads to a fast ruck in defence and lower energy levels towards the end of each half which is when we are conceding most of our points.

“As I said earlier, we’ve got to change our attitude and pick our skill levels up. That starts in training during the week and then we have to take into the game.

“If we are to win the ruck and compete, we could shock a few teams this year.

“Halifax are a side which do all the basics right in a game and can throw some shapes at you. It will be tough. We are confident we have enough quality to overcome this if we are to match their intensity, compete and defend.

“Hopefully, the fans will travel in numbers to help get us over the line”

Finally whilst Guzdek did score a hat-trick last Sunday against Barrow. He insists its all about the team and not him.

He said: “It’s good to notch up my tally a bit more as I haven’t scored that much this year.

“However like most players, I’d much rather have gone to Barrow and won than scored the 3 tries. It would have transformed our season if we had.”
