Lads on fringes have good chance of playing, says Kelly

Rams boss Neil Kelly says he could hand opportunities to players who have recently found themselves on the cusp of selection in tomorrow’s match against Whitehaven.

The Rams face the League One side in the fourth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

Kelly has named a largely settled side in recent weeks, but revealed that some of the players on the sidelines could get the chance to impress in Cumbria.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

“It’s always tough going up to Cumbria, but I am eager for us to progress in the Challenge. You want to go as far as possible in the competition and I always want to win the next match.

“The side will change, obviously. I have several squad players that are chomping at the bit to get out there and play.

“A lot of the lads who have so far been on the side lines have got a good chance of playing.

I haven’t been promising anybody anything, but we’ve taken stock of the loss to Toulouse and I’ve been able to see how everyone in the squad is shaping up.”
