English relishes opportunity with Rams

Matty English has provided an insight into his aspirations for the year ahead, after joining the Rams on a season-long loan from Huddersfield Giants.

The prop forward played against Dewsbury during pre-season, but says he’s now relishing pulling on the Red, Amber and Black.

“My ambitions are to play regularly and help the Rams to as many wins as possible,” said English

“I’m a Wakefield lad, so Dewsbury is a local team for me, and I really want them to do well this year.

“One of the big attractions was the chance to play alongside the likes of Billy Hayes and Harry Woollard again, who I know from Huddersfield,

“I’m also really looking forward to seeing how Jared Simpson gets on, as he is a great lad and I think he’ll be class for the Rams this year.”

English will add an extra dimension to the Rams pack, who helped lay the platform for the win over Sheffield last Friday.

“My style of play is pretty old school. I can play big minutes, I run hard and I tackle hard, with a little bit of skill.

“I’m really looking forward to the physicality of the championship and proving that I can play against top senior players in a competitive league.”
