We have to start better, says Brown

Rams loose forward Aaron Brown believes that a stronger start to the season could be crucial to the club’s hopes of success in 2018.

Brown, 25, has so far been a one club man at senior level, having started his career at amateur level with Waterhead before being a part of the Leeds Rhinos academy set-up.

He arrived at Dewsbury ahead of the 2013 season and has grown in stature since, typically featuring at loose forward or in the half-back position.

Ahead of his sixth season with the club, Brown said: “I think we can finish in a position similar to where we finished last season, among the top part-time clubs, but we want to try and start the campaign better than what we did last year.

“Hopefully, we can carry that streak we enjoyed towards the end of last season and take it into this one.”

On his personal goals, Brown added: “I think the priority for me is maintaining my form.

“I thought I had a decent year last year, and so would just like to carry that on going into this next season. Hopefully, both myself and the team can have a great year in 2018.”

With Toronto earning promotion from League 1 and Leigh Centurions dropping back into the Championship, Brown is relishing the opportunity to test himself at a high standard.

“You always want to play in the big games,” he said.

“You want to test yourself against the best, so when it comes to the games against Leigh, Toulouse and Toronto, I really look forward to them.”
