Martyn Reilly signs for 2018

Dewsbury Rams have further strengthened their squad for next season, with the addition of Martyn Reiily.

Martyn will join up with the Rams after finishing the season with his current club, Halifax RLFC, and his signed a one year deal.

The second rower spoke exclusively to the Rams’ website.

Can you outline your career so far?

“I started my career at Drighlington, then signed for Wakefield U19’s for a year. Playing for these clubs really set me up well before signing for Halifax, where I have been for the last two years.

What were your reasons for wanting to sign for Dewsbury?

“I was talking to a few clubs, then Neil Kelly got in touch and I ended up having a really long talk with him. He explained what the goals are at Dewsbury and what they believe in. I got on really well with Neil and it made me feel like being at the Rams would be the best move for me.

“I’ve always admired the set-up at Dewsbury, who have a good following and some really good players.

What are you goals for next season?

“I am hoping to become a regular face in the team, and bring something extra to an already strong side. Since Neil has come into the club I feel the team have really lifted and are going to do really well next season.

“Hopefully we will be up there challenging for a top 4 spot next season.

“I hope to play a big part in that and will give my all to the club.

“I am really looking forward to getting started, meeting the lads and getting stuck into the preseason in a few months time.

“Hopefully I will bring something a bit different and add a bit more spark in the middle unit!”
