Dewsbury Rams officially unveiled their new main shirt sponsor last night at their televised home game with Batley.

Regal Foods, a Bradford-based international Asian food firm, has signed a one-year deal with the Rams but both parties hope the agreement lasts significantly longer.

Regal will have their Cafe Regal brand on all Dewsbury shirts and hope to link up with the club in other ways, including offering free samples of their Asian-influenced food to supporters at games as well as giving the team and coaching staff a chance to taste the food for themselves at the stylish new Cafe Regal in Bradford.

The firm supplies Asian foods to several top retailers, including Asda and Mullaco of Dewsbury and may also bring some of their top clients to Rams games as an added bonus.

The two sides were brought together by a mutual business contact and managing director Younis Choudhry said: "This is the first time we've ventured into sponsorship in this way and we're really pleased with how it's all working out."

"Our company is very much 'east meets west' and Dewsbury is a multi-cultural town, it's an ideal opportunity for us."

Dewsbury Chairman Mark Sawyer said the deal was "substantial" and added: "We need to attract more sponsors like Regal, they're a major employer and we can work well with them, we both have very similar goals."
